Yes. Shotly is free to download and use, with no account required.

Does Shotly work offline?

Yes. Screenshot capture, OCR, annotation, collage building, and editing run locally on your Mac. OCR translation uses Apple’s on-device Translation framework.

Which OCR and translation languages does Shotly support?

Shotly recognizes English, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Translation targets also include French, German, and Spanish.

What version of macOS does Shotly require?

Shotly requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. OCR translation requires macOS 15 or later.

Can Shotly record the screen?

Yes. Shotly records MP4 video with cursor and audio options, pause and resume controls, timeline trimming, and video export.

Does Shotly upload screenshots or OCR text?

No. Shotly does not upload screenshots, OCR text, filenames, or clipboard contents. Optional anonymous feature analytics can be disabled in Settings.
